Encrypt emails and any text in place.

While not exactly a file encryption program, Eclipse Portable Encryptor is actually a little utility for encrypting your emails completely free. It works by selecting any text with your cursor, hitting Ctrl Shift E (or if you choose, something else -- configurable), entering your password and your text will instantly be encrypted in the place where your selected text was.

Decrypting the text is basically the same as the process for encrypting it. Select it, hit Ctrl Shift E and enter your password.

The program uses blowfish encryption which is processed by a command-line utility (MySecret) which is included with the Eclipse download.

Compatibility and License

Eclipse has been released under a General Open Source license which means the software can be downloaded and distributed for free. There are other programs from data encryption software available with different licenses like GPL or just plain closed-source freeware.

Sector-Seven accepts donations for the continued development of this free software.

What version of Windows can Eclipse run on?

Eclipse can be used on a computer running Windows 11 or Windows 10. Previous versions of the OS shouldn't be a problem with Windows 8 and Windows 7 having been tested. It comes in both 32-bit and 64-bit downloads.

Other operating systems: The latest Eclipse version from 2024 is also available for Mac.
